Perspectives on religion
Standing up for faith

Many people find it easy to cope with the changes of society. We adapt to the ever-merging world in which we live by accepting cultures, values and religion as norms in our society.
My faith as a Christian is one thing I stand strongly for. Yet every time an atheist or non-believer feels threatened, I am silenced on how I feel. God is convenient to many; the reality of Christianity is only a comfort or to be polite like using the phrase "God bless you," after someone sneezes.
Religion, being the base of all cultures, is the single entity that divides the world. We accommodate people who don't have the same beliefs and change our world to better fit them, but the twist is no one ever accommodates us. More wars have been fought in the name of God than anything else. America, a nation with a core constructed of Christianity has taken a back seat to other religions, allowing the values and beliefs to be overshadowed by the prominence of other sanctions.
It goes without saying that our country would not be what it is today if it weren't for the influences of other religions, but it's disheartening the way Christianity has become more of a convenience rather than pulling its weight as a religious sanction.
People are compared to Jehovah's Witnesses or Mormons when they want to openly discuss God, yet it's appropriate to discuss the scientific aspect on why Jesus couldn't have been or the falsification of the Bible.
It's easier for people to openly express how they feel as agnostics and atheists, but when people want to proclaim their love for Christ they are thought to be pushy or overly religious.
Christians are more open to accommodate for non-believers than they are their own kind. Radical shifts have to be made in order to obtain acceptance within the Christian culture. Mega churches and hip-hop sermons are established to better blend within the secular world, but with all the glitz and glamour, the true meaning and messages are lost.
