Sports superstar Troy Bolton, played by Terry Jones, and braniac Gabriella Montez, played by Suzelle Pabrios, try to stay true to their friends and to themselves in Central's theater production of High School Musical.

The sensation sweeping the nation High School Musical landed, transforming Slocomb Auditorium into East Side High.

The play tells the story of the Wildcats basketball team captain for East Side High Troy Bolton, played by Terry Jones, and Gabriella Montez, played by Suzelle Pabrios, a braniac whose only desire is to reach academic heights before meeting Bolton. They face peer pressure from their friends to stay with their own group instead of exploring new talents.

The story takes a dramatic turn when both of them want to join the high school musical.

During several of his numbers, Jones seemed to struggle with his vocals often straining to hit the high notes, and Pabrios' overly abundant vibrato filled numbers appeared lacking in confidence as she often sang under her breath and missed many opportunities to fill the theatre with song.

Sharpay and Ryan Evans, played by Jackie Brothers and Douglas Dorsten, a brother-sister team who have been starring in plays since kindergarten fear Troy and Gabriella may have a chance of obtaining the lead and attempt to sabotage their relationship.

Brothers' stage performance appeared to be a little over the top however it was appropriate for theatre and her vocals were befitting as well.

Dorsten, a breath of fresh air, displayed dynamic stage presence along with amazing vocal talent during his numbers.

His voice filled the theatre as he rightfully stole the show every time he appeared.

The play began with a rendition of the familiar Grease scene where Danny Zuko tells his friends about meeting Sandy for the first time while she tells her new friends about the boy she met.

However, Troy and Gabriella are returning after winter break and Troy fails to mention how he and Gabriella shared a special karaoke song on New Year's Eve that leads them to exploring their new talent on stage and with each other.

Troy's best friend Chad, played by Orlando Jones, finds it difficult to accept that his best friend is choosing a girl and a different interest over the basketball team.
