Rescheduling of Events
New dates that were changed by Ike

It's been over two weeks since Hurricane Ike closed the doors of the college, and many events that were scheduled during and soon after the hurricane have been postponed or even canceled.
At Central, the Activities Slam scheduled for Sept. 17 has been moved to 10:30 a.m.-1 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 15. The aim of the slam is to give the various clubs and organizations at the campus the opportunity to spread information and recruit new students. Registration for clubs has a new deadline of Oct. 16.
An SOS Workshop has been rescheduled to Monday, Oct. 6 at 5:30 p.m. in the Central campus ballroom.
The Central production of High School Musical will be rescheduled to a spring show. The department of theater arts has acquired extended rental rights for the score and will resume with auditions in January. The show will run Feb 28 - 29 in the Powell Arena Theater on Central campus.
The Honor students will be making their trip to Brazosport College in Lake Jackson for the annual Honors conference on Nov. 7. At the conference, students will give presentations of papers and projects that they have written. The conference is meant to be a celebration of creativity and scholarship and deadline for registration and proposals is Oct 27.
At South the department of fine arts will hold its traditional flamenco concert at 7:30 p.m. on Oct. 17 at the Black Box Theater. The concert will feature the campus' music professor Jeremias "El Valiente" Garcia on classical guitar along with the stylized dancing of Irma La Paloma and La Tempestad. Garcia will be playing some tracks from his new CD, Distancia, and the CD will be available for purchase at the event. Admission is free and open to the public.
At the Grace Theater in Houston the show must go on and the A.D. Players will continue their production of All I Ever Need to Know I Learned in Kindergarten through Oct. 19. The show is based on a collection of Robert Fulghram's narrative writings about everyday life.
At the Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion all Live Nation concerts and performing arts shows have been canceled through the rest of the year. Anyone who had tickets to any of these events have been advised by the office of admissions to obtain a refund.
